MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay city government rolled out its “Swab Test on Wheels” program that aims to give priority to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), which are considered part of the vulnerable communities, in the city’s COVID-19 mass testing.

In a statement on Thursday, Pasay Public Information Office (PIO) said the mobile swab tests aimed at serving senior citizens and PWDs in villages with no nearby health centers such as Barangays Cuyegkeng, Malibay, Doña Nena and Doña Martha, and who have no means to travel to the nearest health stations.

The project started testing specimens from senior citizens and PWDs in Malibay area and in Leveriza corner Buendia this morning.

Medical technologists, who will conduct the swab tests, are wearing personal protective equipment to reduce their risk of transmission of novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which causes coronavirus disease.

The test specimens will be sent to the Philippine Red Cross laboratory which will release its results after two days.
