MANILA, Philippines — Ten frontline workers in Caloocan City have been found positive for the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 after the local government conducted mass testing of its medical workers and other essential workers.
Data posted Thursday on Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan’s Facebook page showed that 301 medical workers, employees in mobile markets, jeep markets, relief operations, and encoders of the social amelioration program for poor families, among others, underwent rapid testing at Caloocan City Medical Center and Caloocan City North Medical Center.

According to Malapitan, the infected workers will be isolated and undergo another set of test for the new virus.
“Ito ay isinasagawa natin para maprotektahan ang ating mga essential workers gayundin ang mga mamamayan na ating pinagsisilbihan,” Malapitan wrote in a Facebook post.
