1,062 healthcare workers in PH have COVID-19; 26 die

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,062 healthcare workers in the country have been found positive for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that leads to the deadly respiratory illness COVID-19.

The Department of Health (DOH) revealed this on Wednesday, adding that 26 of them – including 19 doctors have already died.

Specifically, DOH said 422 are doctors, 386 are nurses, 30 are medical technologists, 21 are radio technologists, 51 are nursing assistants, and 152 are administrative workers and barangay health workers have contracted the new virus.

The 1,062 infected healthcare workers are already included in the national tally of 6,710 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of April 22.
