Quezon police chief tells ECQ violators: You have criminal records now

LUCENA CITY—Police in Quezon warned holders of quarantine passes against abusing their use which would lead to criminal records.

Col. Audie Madrideo, Quezon police chief, said at least 1,483 enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) violators have already been arrested in the province since its enforcement last March 17.

Madrideo said violators of ECQ have been allowed to go home after they were booked by police but their legal trouble is far from over.

He said the ECQ violators were just freed to prevent coronavirus transmission in overcrowded jails.

“We’ve already filed the corresponding criminal charges against violators,” Madrideo said.

“The charges were recorded and will appear once they get police clearance,” he said.

“After the crisis, they will be compelled to appear before the court,” Madrideo added.

He complained about rampant violation of ECQ in the province.
