PGH receives 10,000 locally-made PPE

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) received 10,000 locally manufactured personal protective equipment (PPE) for its health workers dealing with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The PPEs, donated by companies in the garment industry, were turned over to the PGH on Wednesday.

This is the first batch of the 300,000 coveralls to be donated to the Department of Health (DOH) for the use of COVID-19 frontliners.

The Health Department expressed gratitude for the member-companies of the Confederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines (CONWEP) which initiated the local production of the much-needed medical-grade PPEs for the health workers.

The DOH earlier said that at least 766 healthcare workers in the country are confirmed coronavirus carriers as of April 17.

To date, the Philippines has 6,599 confirmed cases of the infectious respiratory illness, including 654 recoveries and 437 deaths.
