MANILA, Philippines — Conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has scaled up production of the iconic nutribun to augment food donations to poor households displaced by the Luzon-wide lockdown.
From the initial run of 10,000 buns per day, SMC, through its subsidiary San Miguel Foods Inc., is now producing more than twice the initial volume at 24,000 pieces of nutribun daily.
“What we hope to do is reach as many vulnerable families as possible and help make sure they do not go hungry. Apart from our food donations, our version of the ‘nutribun’ is another way for us to keep our citizens healthy and nourished,” SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang said in a statement on Tuesday.
Each nutribun bread weighs 85 grams and contains 250 calories.
