MANILA, Philippines — A total of 62 employees and 13 psychiatric patients of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) in Mandaluyong City were confirmed to have the coronavirus disease.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Tuesday said that five of the confirmed cases have already recovered from the disease — four were employees of the hospital while one was a patient. There was no death reported.

Healthcare workers who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus but show no symptoms of the COVID-19 are currently under home quarantine, Vergeire said.

Meanwhile, those who have symptoms are admitted to several hospitals.

She did not specify how many of the employees are under home-quarantine or admitted to hospitals.

Psychiatric patients with COVID-19, however, are under the care of the NCMH.

“Patuloy na minomonitor ng ating kagawaran sa kanilang araw araw na kalagayan,” the Health official said.

(The DOH continues to monitor their situation.)

To date, there are 6,599 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country of which 654 patients were able to recover from the disease, while 437 have succumbed to it.
