JAEN, Nueva Ecija –– A village councilman was arrested with two others with whom he allegedly had a drinking spree in Barangay Sto. Tomas North here on Tuesday (April 21) despite a liquor ban during the Luzon quarantine.

Sto. Tomas North councilman Florencio Cajucom, Jr., 36; farmer Antonio Collado, 48; and 50-year-old Ferdinand Cullado resisted when the police detained them at 3 p.m., said Police Major Erwin Ferry, municipal police chief.

The police acted due to complaints from neighbors, who were concerned about the lockdown violations. The quarantine was enforced to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and has been extended until April 30.

A 56-year-old woman from Barangay Niyugan here, who died on April 10, turned out to have been infected with the dreaded virus.
