LIGAO CITY –– Authorities have rescued a Philippine eagle-owl (Bubo philippinensis), in a coastal village in Manito, Albay.

Jeffrey James Abogado Mesias, project support officer of the Biodiversity Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said the owl was found by a resident in Barangay Buyo.

“The owl, which is approximately one to two years old, is considered endemic in the country,” he said.

Albay veterinarian Dr. Pancho Mella said the bird was in good condition and turned over to the Albay Parks and Wildlife on Tuesday.
