MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has raised P136.7 million in its bid to help bankroll the government’s cash assistance for poor families affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
“Sa kasalukuyan, nakalikom na ang team PNP Bayanihan Fund Challenge ng kabuuang P136.7 million at naglalayon tayong makalikom ng P200 million para sa mahihirap nating kababayan,” PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said in an online press conference Tuesday.
(Currently, our PNP Bayanihan Fund Challenge collected P136.7 million and we are aiming to raise P200 million for indigent families.)
Gamboa previously said PNP members can donate on a voluntary-basis and that there is no required or standard amount for contributions. PNP also said the campaign will not be deducted from or affect the salary of over 250,000 police officers.
The Bayanihan to Heal as One seeks to provide assistance to some 18 million poor families amounting to P5,000 to P8,000, depending on the minimum wage rates in their respective regions, as financial subsidy to tide them over during the enhanced community quarantine that was imposed all over Luzon to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease.
