MANILA, Philippines — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia announced Monday he is now negative for the novel coronavirus.
Garcia revealed last March 28 that he has contracted COVID-19.
More than three weeks later, the MMDA head is now free from the infectious respiratory disease after his test from the Philippine Red Cross Molecular Laboratory came out negative.
“I am pleased to inform everyone that I have now tested negative for the COVID-19. I would like to thank you for all your prayers and support,” Garcia said in a statement Monday.
Garcia said he will continue to self-isolate in accordance with the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines for recovered COVID-19 patients.
On Monday afternoon, the Department of Health reported 200 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the country’s total to 6,459, of whom, 613 recovered while 428 died.
