MMDA: Only 4 people allowed in sedan

MANILA, Philippines — Only four people would be allowed to be in a sedan car, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said as authorities doubled down on physical distancing guidelines with less than two weeks left before the extended lockdown ends.

MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said violators would be fined P5,000 and charged with violation of physical distancing as set under the enhanced community quarantine guidelines.

In response to the rising number of cars on the road, both the MMDA and the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group have set up more mobile checkpoints across the metropolis to check cars.

Only front-liners, emergency workers and essential workers are allowed to travel freely.
