MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.8 earthquake hit Leyte on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake struck at 7:34 a.m. at 10 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Leyte.
The tremor was of tectonic origin, and it had a one-kilometer depth of focus.
Phivolcs stated that the earthquake was felt in other areas at various intensities:
- Instrumental Intensity III – Ormoc City
- Instrumental Intensity II – Naval, Biliran
- Instrumental Intensity I – Borongan City
No aftershocks and damages were expected, Phivolcs added.
