Senate to suspend session in case of total lockdown

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate plans to convene on May 4, the scheduled resumption of Congress’ session, but Senate President Vicente Sotto III said there was also an option to suspend the proceedings afterward should a total lockdown be ordered.

Sotto said he could no longer change the legislative calendar, which set a May 4 to June 5 session of Congress before the sine die adjournment of its first regular session.

“The legislative calendar can’t be changed, it’s a mandate. We have to convene on May 4, no matter what. It’s my job. Whether I’m alone there or my colleagues attend it, I would convene it,” Sotto said in an interview over dwIZ.
