Lacson: Resolution needed to allow Senate session via teleconferencing
MANILA, Philippines — A resolution is needed to continue Senate sessions via teleconferencing as Luzon remains on lockdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Saturday.
“Pwede ‘yan. Kaya lang magpapasa kami ng resolution para payagan ‘yan. Kasi sa ngayon walang existing na in-adopt na resolution para mag-teleconferencing kami na mag-session,” Lacson explained when asked about possible teleconferencing during Senate sessions.
(That is possible. But we still need to pass a resolution to approve that. because we did not adopt any resolution allowing us to do teleconferencing for sessions.)
With strict home quarantine protocols, Lacson said senators are currently communicating through a Viber chat group to discuss future legislative matters.
“Meron kaming Viber chat group, at least ang majority bloc naroon kaming lahat. Halos araw-araw nakapag-usap kami roon kung ano ang way forward,” he said.
(We have a Viber chat group, at least the majority block is there. Almost every day we are talking about what can we do.)
