MANILA, Philippines — Members of the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) will be deployed to Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City to enforce the heightened community quarantine in select areas there.

Photos of the Army reservists undergoing pre-deployment briefing at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City were shared by the Mandaluyong City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in a Facebook post on Friday.

Some areas in the village were earlier placed by the Mandaluyong City government under a heightened community quarantine through Executive Order No. 13 series of 2020 to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease.

In issuing the executive order, Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita Abalos noted that the number of COVID-19 cases in the city, particularly in Barangay Addition Hills has continued to rise.

“This critical situation requires that the city government imposes more stringent health measures over the areas containing persons under investigation, persons under monitoring for COVID-19, especially areas where death or deaths have occurred,” she said in the order shared by the Mandaluyong City Public Information Office on April 13.

As of 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Mandaluyong has already recorded 248 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of this number 24 have died and 29 have recovered.

Of this total number of cases, 31 are residents of Barangay Addition Hills. Five of them have died and two have recovered.
