Casiño calls rumors linking him to Corona ouster ‘malicious and pathetic’
Bayan Muna Representative Teodoro Casiño on Tuesday decried as “malicious and pathetic” rumors linking him to an alleged people power plot to oust Chief Justice Renato Corona if he is acquitted in his impeachment trial.
Casiño denied the allegation by a certain “Mullato” in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report on Tuesday that he recently met with Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, believed to be a strong contender for Corona’s post, in a posh condominium “to plan out people power in case Corona is acquitted by the Senate.”
He said the report was “pure hogwash,” noting that it was the second such item to appear in the press.
“Some political operators and spin doctors are apparently hard at work trying to discredit the impeachment complaint to the extent of peddling barefaced lies. How pathetic!” Casiño said. Cynthia D. Balana
