‘Bourne’ crew to start shooting scenes in Manila Wednesday

Cameras will begin rolling today for the Hollywood crime-thriller “Bourne Legacy,” with the filming of several scenes in the heart of Manila’s colorful Malate district.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Francis Tolentino said the movie crew will begin their 45-day shooting schedule at Remedios Circle, known for its stretch of upscale restaurants and watering holes.

“The area at Remedios Circle isn’t a busy place. It’s like a tourist district area,” he said. Some scenes will also be shot at nearby San Andres district.

Citing information relayed to him by the production team, shooting dates of the movie are between Wednesdays and Sundays, but would not last throughout the day, Tolentino said.

Around 20-25 minutes of the movie will be filmed at  Navotas fish port,  Marikina City public market, Edsa-Taft Avenue Rotunda and Rizal Avenue and Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard,  the locale of two car chase scenes.

Tolentino said the MMDA will issue traffic advisories two days before the actual shooting to avoid causing inconveniences to motorists.

A 120-member contingent, Task Force Bourne, will provide security and assist the Hollywood production crew.

The movie stars Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz.
