Power allocation for electric cooperatives in the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao has been raised to help ensure hospitals of continuous supply of electricity, according to the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM).
The state firm, in a statement, said the move was also intended to maintain the stability of electricity in southern Mindanao during the enhanced community quarantine imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Supply for Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) was raised to 42 megawatts from 16.8 MW and for Maguindanao Electric Cooperative (Magelco) to 17.88 MW from 10 MW.
Lasureco serves 63,003 customers while Magelco has 44,156 connections in its service area. “Overall, the two electric cooperatives will net a 59.88-MW capacity for the month of April as a temporary emergency measure,” PSALM said. —RONNEL DOMINGO
