Man abandoned by family kills self

A man who was reportedly abandoned by his wife and children was found dead in an apparent suicide Tuesday morning, according to a police report. Police Officer 3 Modestino Juanson of the Quezon City Police District identified the victim as Edward Rosas, 27, a tricycle driver and resident of Bougainvillea Street in Barangay (village) Pasong Putik, Quezon City. Juanson said the victim, who lives by himself, was already dead when he was found around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday by his sister. Juanson said that the victim’s sister often checked on him because he became depressed after his family left him. Rosas’ body was found hanging from a wooden beam on the ceiling of his house. There was a rope looped around his neck, according to a police report. His sister told the police she last saw her brother alive at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. She also said that the victim had a few drinks with neighbors during which he told them he missed his family. “He also said that he was concerned about his children,” she added.—Nancy C. Carvajal
