Probable COVID-19 patient in Palawan dies pending test result

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– A patient considered a probable coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case died Wednesday evening, bringing the total number of casualties in the province to four.

Dr. Mary Ann Navarro, the provincial health officer in a press statement early Thursday, said the local health authorities had yet to receive the result of the confirmatory test.

“One probable COVID-19 patient died last night (Wednesday) in the province but the result of his swab test from Research Institute for Tropical Medicine is still pending,” the statement said.

The patient’s son, who sought anonymity, said they have yet to decide how the remains would be handled.

“I am still waiting for the results, which would determine what we would do to Nanay (mother). If I would take her home to El Nido, she might have been cremated already. There are only two options, cremation or immediate burial,” he said.
