Valenzuela City reports 5 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 52

MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela City government on Wednesday evening reported five new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the city’s total infection to 52.

The city government said four of the new COVID-19 patients contracted the respiratory illness after “close contact” with confirmed virus carriers.

Valenzuela City identified the new cases as follows:

“All these patients are asymptomatic and have been isolated,” the city government said, adding that its City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit is now conducting contact tracing.

Valenzuela City residents experiencing symptoms, have a travel history and/or exposure to coronavirus patients are urged to contact the city’s COVID-19 hotline at 8352-5000.

Currently, there are 5,453 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, 353 of them have recovered while 349 died.
