MANILA, Philippines — Mandaluyong City government is coordinating with the Philippine Red Cross’ (PRC) molecular laboratory to begin mass testing in the city.
Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos said frontliners would be among the first to be tested to ensure that health workers helping in the COVID-19 crisis will stay healthy.
“Sa ganitong paraan ay higit nating mapapangalagaan at matiyak ang kondisyon ng ating frontliners na may mahalagang gampaning medikal sa mga naapektuhan ng COVID-19 pandemic,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
(In this way, we can take care and ensure the health condition of our frontliners that have essential for treating patients affected by the coronavirus disease outbreak.)
Aside from health workers, Mandaluyong Public Information Office chief Jimmy Isidro said that persons under investigation (PUIs) would also be among the first to be tested.
To date, the Mandaluyong City health department documented 193 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 20 deaths and 24 patients who recovered from the ailment.
