MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday denied issuing an order about a 29 percent increase in salary pensions for police and Integrated National Police (INP) retirees.
“PNP Retirement and Benefits Administration Service (PRBS) said there is no directive or measures on the said standardization of salary pensions of PNP/INP retirees claiming to have 29% increase effective today, April 15,” PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a statement.
According to Banac, some policemen were receiving text messages falsely claiming the increase in salary pensions.
As of April 13, members of PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested 47 individuals for allegedly spreading fake reports about the novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19 pandemic while two online scammers were arrested for supposedly engaging in a “face mask scam.”
PNP-ACG also filed cases against 24 individuals purportedly spreading unverified reports about COVID-19.
