Subic duty-free store closes after shopper tests positive for COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES — The Royal Choices Duty Free Shop inside the Subic Bay Freeport has been closed after a doctor who shopped there tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The doctor shopped at the duty-free outlet at 11 a.m. on Monday (April 13), said Wilma Eisma, chair of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

Eisma reached out to store customers who were inside the shop and its perimeters from 10 a.m. on Monday to 3:00 p.m on Tuesday (April 14) to proceed to the nearest public health center so they can be examined.

In a statement, Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the doctor is a 36-year-old woman who has become the city’s seventh COVID-19 case. She works in a Bataan hospital.
