Today, April 15, is the 72nd death anniversary of former President Manuel Roxas.
Born on Jan. 1, 1892, he obtained his law degree from the University of the Philippines and topped the bar exam in 1913.
During his political career, Roxas served as House speaker, and Senate president before he was elected President in 1946.
However, he did not finish his term and died of a heart attack in 1948. He was buried at the Manila North Cemetery.
In the 1960s, Dewey Boulevard in Pasay City was renamed Roxas Boulevard in his honor.
