Man hangs self at home in Davao Sur town
DIGOS CITY—A man died of apparent suicide at the village of Kiblagon, Sulop town in Davao del Sur province on Tuesday (April 14).
Capt. Harold Untalan, Sulop acting police chief, said Genie Legaray Encallado, 34, was found hanging in his house.
Police untied the rope that Encallado was believed to have used to hang himself and rushed him to hospital where he was declared dead.
Encallado’s body was brought to a funeral parlor for autopsy but police investigators found no sign of foul play in his death.
Untalan said investigators found that Encallado had been suffering from depression after hearing news about his wife on Facebook. His wife is working in Kuwait. There were no details about what Encallado saw on FB about his wife.
The couple’s daughter, 15, told police she found several suicide notes written by her father on a notebook. No details were given.
