DOH dispels claims it has not inspected Marikina COVID-19 lab
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday said it has sent a team to assess the laboratory for COVID-19 testing in Marikina City.
“We have a DOH team currently assessing the Marikina laboratory. Dr. Leviste’s team is currently onsite. This is to dispel claims that DOH is not coordinating,” it said in a statement sent to reporters on Viber.
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro earlier announced that the laboratory would be opened on Friday despite no approval from the DOH, invoking his “local autonomy over the matter in making this move.”
“The DOH has been contacted several times by the city government for it to check the new facility, but its team did not arrive,” read the statement.
