LIGAO CITY—Residents kept at home by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine against COVID-19 in the provinces of Albay and Camarines Sur on Monday (April 13) started receiving the aid promised by the national government.
Ligao City Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua said the municipal government started distributing the aid to villages in the morning until afternoon.
She said a team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) accompanied by local officials visited the houses of beneficiaries and personally handed over P5,000 to each of them.
In Iriga City, Camarines Sur, the Social Amelioration Program cash aid was also delivered to beneficiaries’ homes.
Iriga Mayor Madelaine Alfelor said the cash was distributed at the mountain villages of San Rafael, Cristo Rey, Sta. Isabel, Antipolo, Nino Jesus and San Ramon.
She said even the indigenous people Agta Tabagnon also received aid.
The party-list group Ako Bicol (AKB) distributed testing kits and imported medical equipment in different hospitals.
AKB Rep. Elizaldy Co said 1,000 pieces of PPE from Germany had been distributed to different provinces.
The party-list group, he said, would distribute 500 pieces of face shields, 22,000 face masks, 2,500 testing kits and bottles of rubbing alcohol.
