COVID-19 risks: Health worker becomes 27th patient in Cagayan Valley
CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela—In yet another case that illustrates the risks that front line workers face in the fight against COVID-19, a 40-year-old health worker became the 27th coronavirus patient in Cagayan Valley on Monday (April 13).
The woman, branded as PH4805, has no travel history except for her direct contact with PH3987, a fellow health worker who was confined at the Southern Isabela Medical Center, said Dr. Leticia Cabrera, officer-in-charge of the Department of Health Cagayan Valley office.
The woman’s respiratory samples were retrieved on April 10. Two days later, she suffered a high fever and diarrhea and was confined and isolated at the SIMC.
Twenty of the 27 positive patients in the region had already recovered from the illness.
