Former NPA fighter shot dead in Samar

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — A former member of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman in Calbiga town, Samar on April, 9.

Based on a report reaching the Eastern Visayas police, Idelfonso Nablo, 30 was at his farm located in Barangay Daligan at around 12:23 p.m. when the lone gunman approached and shot him in the head using a still unknown gun caliber.

The body of the victim was brought to the rural health unit in the Calbiga town.

Nablo, a former member of the NPA, surrendered in 2019 before officials of the 46th Infantry Battalion based in Calbiga town.

Police investigators have yet to identify the gunman as well as establish the motive behind the killing.
