Confirmed COVID-19 carriers in Quezon rise to 25

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Quezon province has recorded two more confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of validated cases to 25.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin Sunday (April 12), the Quezon public information office citing a report from the Integrated Provincial Health Office, disclosed that the two verified COVID-19 patients were traced to Lucena City and Pitogo town in the province’s Bondoc Peninsula area.

The QPIO did not provide further details on the new coronavirus carriers. On Saturday, the total recorded patients were only 23.

With the latest report, Lucena City, the Quezon provincial capital now has a total of nine recorded cases.

The lone patient from Pitogo is the fourth confirmed COVID-19 case from the Bondoc Peninsula with three more from Unisan town since the pandemic broke out.

Out of the 25 patients with the disease, five had died from the towns of Unisan, Candelaria, Calauag, Infanta and Tiaong.

On April 9, the QPIO reported that three of the patients from Lucena City, Tayabas City, and Sariaya town, tested negative and were discharged from the hospitals.

With the recovery of the three patients and the deaths of five others, the number of COVID-19 carriers in the province is down to 17.

Lucena has eight; Tayabas City, three; Unisan, two; and one each in Sariaya, Candelaria, Sampaloc and Pitogo.
