MANILA, Philippines — Two more police officers were infected with the coronavirus disease, bringing the total count of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases for police personnel to 27.
Citing data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said Saturday that the new cases of COVID-19 involved a 52-year-old policeman assigned in Metro Manila, and a 34-year-old policewoman.
Meanwhile, the PNP Health Service also documented two new recoveries in the police force which involved PNP Patient-2 who is a policeman aged 31 from Manila and 55-year-old policeman from Quezon City.
This brings the total number of recoveries to four. The infected PNP personnel were discharged from their respective health centers.
PICC operations
In the same statement, PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said they are finalizing deployment of the PNP medical team and medical personnel to the isolation facility in the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
The DOH previously announced that PNP was assigned to supervise the quarantine facility at PICC.
Gamboa said the PNP Health Service will manage medical operations in the said facility.
The PNP chief also inspected the PICC Forum Tent which will cater 294 patients ranging from mild to moderate COVID-19 cases.
