LUCENA CITY –– Two more confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were recorded in Quezon province, bringing the total number of validated cases to 23.
An 11 a.m. bulletin Saturday (April 11) of the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO) showed that the new cases are from Lucena City and Tayabas City.
The report also showed that the lone COVID-19 patient from Tiaong town, a 74-year-old female, had died.
Five had died from SARS-CoV-2, with four from the towns of Unisan, Candelaria, Calauag, and Infanta.
On April 9, the QPIO reported that three of the cases from Lucena City, Tayabas City, and Sariaya town, tested negative and had been discharged from the hospitals.
With the recovery of the three patients and the death of five others, the number of COVID-19 carriers in the province is down to 15.
Lucena has seven; Tayabas City, three; Unisan, two; and one each in Sariaya, Candelaria, and Sampaloc.
On April 8, Gov. Danilo Suarez ordered a “total lockdown” in the province due to rising cases of COVID-19.
Suarez’s order meant stricter enforcement of the quarantine that would remain in effect in Luzon until April 30.
