8 health workers in Quezon are COVID-19 positive

LUCENA CITY –– Two more health workers were recorded as confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Quezon province, bringing the total number of infected medical-health frontliners to eight out of 21 validated virus carriers.

Janet Geneblazo-Buelo, head of the Quezon Public Information Office, on Saturday, citing information from the Integrated Provincial Health Office, revealed that, of the 21 COVID-19 patients in the province, “eight are medical/health workers.”

In an 11 a.m. Friday (April 10) bulletin, the Tayabas City information office revealed that a 42-year-old woman from the city is a “health worker in Lucena City medical facility.”

The newest COVID-19 patient resides in Barangay Isabang and has been classified as an “authorized person outside of residence.”

“Contact tracing is being undertaken,” the city government said.

Lucena Mayor Roderick Alcala had also disclosed that three of the confirmed cases were “doctors” from the city.

However, of the eight COVID-19 positive health workers, one of them had been cleared and tested negative, according to Geneblazo-Buelo.

The doctors and nurses from the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena, who took care of the 35-year-old health worker during his two-week confinement, gave him a joyous send-off on Wednesday.
