Northern Luzon may experience cloudy skies, rains due to windflow

MANILA, Philippines – The northern parts of Luzon may experience cloudy skies and rains due to the northeasterly surface wind flow, the state weather bureau said on Friday.

The latest forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) show that light rains may persist in the coming hours, although they eventually expect the situation to get better within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao would enjoy generally fair weather, as no cloud bands were spotted by Pagasa’s satellite imagery.

Temperatures in several places in Luzon may peak at the low 30 degrees Celsius range, with Tuguegarao in Cagayan ranging from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius, 25 to 33 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila, and 23 to 32 degrees Celsius in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

Meanwhile, warm weather would also affect cities of Iloilo, Cebu, and Tacloban in the Visayas, with temperatures ranging from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius, while highs of 34 degrees celsius may be felt in Zamboanga and Davao.

Still, Pagasa warns that localized thunderstorms may occur, especially in the afternoon and by nighttime.

No gale warning has been raised which allows fisherfolk with small boats to set sail.  Sea conditions around the country will range from slight to moderate, except in the extreme northern Luzon which will experience moderate to rough seas.
