City of Manila COVID-19 watch: 277 cases; 36 deaths, 24 recoveries

MANILA, Philippines – The City of Manila’s  confirmed coronavirus disease 2019  (COVID-19) climbed to 277 as of Thursday, April 9, after five new cases were recorded, while the death toll is at 36, the city government announced on Friday.

No new deaths were recorded and the number of recoveries also remained at 24.

Sampaloc district still has the most number of  with cases with 71, followed by Tondo 2 with 31 cases.

However, the number of persons under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19  to 427 on April 9, 60 cases less than the 487 recorded on April 8.

“Mula 487 kahapon, bumaba na sa 427 ang mga Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) matapos mag-negatibo ang karamihan sa kanila sa sakit na COVID-19,” the city government said.

(From the 487 reported yesterday, the number of PUIs dropped to 427 after many of them tested negative for COVID-19.)

Tondo 1 recorded the most number of PUIs in the city with 97, followed by Sampaloc with 48.

So far, the Philippines has 4,076 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 203 fatalities and 124 recoveries.
