Mandaluyong City now requiring residents to wear face masks in public places

MANILA, Philippines —  The local government of Mandaluyong City has enforced the rule for residents to wear face masks while going out in public places as a precautionary measure to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Ordinance Number 759, s. 2020 was signed by City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos on Wednesday, where it also said that those who will violate the order will be punished.

Violators will either be fined P5,000 and/or face imprisonment of up to one week.

This comes after the Department of Interior and Local Government urged local government units to issue an order requiring their residents to wear a face mask in public areas.
