A possible tactical alliance for the 2013 local elections is being discussed by the Durano clan and the Cebu chapter of the Liberal Party (LP), a family member confirmed yesterday.
“I don’t deny that negotiations are ongoing,” Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said.
Magpale belongs to the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan Ug Demokrasya (Bakud) party of the Durano clan, which is chaired by her cousin Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III.
She said LP is offering her the vice gubernatorial spot in 2013 as runningmate for its Cebu chairman lawyer Hilario “Junjun” Davide III.
Other quarters, however, have openly speculated about Magpale’s potential to run for governor.
Bakud supported the One Cebu party of Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia in the May 2010 elections.
Magpale said no decision has been reached yet about plans for 2013.
Asked if she has talked about Bakud’s plans with the Garcias, she said no. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
