MANILA, Philippines — There are now 53 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Marikina City, the local government announced Wednesday.
Data provided by the Marikina Public Information Office showed that as of 3 p.m. of April 8, the total number had an additional four confirmed cases, as compared to the previous 49 COVID-19 cases recorded on Tuesday.
Of the total 53 cases, 13 have succumbed to the viral disease, while six patients managed to recover.
The local government added that it was also monitoring 18 persons under investigation (PUI), as well as 77 persons under monitoring (PUM).
An individual is considered a PUM is he/she has history of travel, but is asymptomatic, meaning he/she has not shown signs of respiratory illness, dry cough or fever.
Meanwhile, a person is considered a PUI is he/she has history of travel, and is symptomatic.
The Philippines currently has 3,870 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of the total number, 96 managed to recover while 182 succumbed to the disease.
