MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad on Wednesday announced that it would provide free water supply to facilities to be converted as treatment centers for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.
The West Zone water concessionaire, in a statement, said that free water supply will be provided at the treatment facilities located at the World Trade Center and Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, as well as the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila
“Maynilad is donating the water requirements of these facilities for the entire duration of its operations as quarantine centers,” the water concessionaire said.
“Maynilad is at one with national efforts to curb the spread of this deadly virus. By covering for the water consumption of these COVID-19 treatment centers, we hope to help ease the burden of government in running these facilities and ultimately contribute to the goal of flattening the curve,” Maynilad added.
Maynilad further stated that it will also be extending other relief assistance, “including the provision of water supply for select Department of Public Works and Highways disinfection stations along major roads, and the distribution of drinking water for the consumption of COVID-19 frontliners who remain on duty to provide essential services during the enhanced community quarantine.”
Previously, the Department of Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the three sites will serve as quarantine facilities that will accommodate COVID-19 patients who are asymptomatic and with mild symptoms.
As of Thursday, the Philippines has 3,870 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the total number, 96 successfully recovered while 182 have succumbed to the disease.
