MANILA, Philippines — A total of 150,000 food packages are being readied to be distributed for Las Piñas residents after the enhanced community quarantine was extended until April 30, the city government said Wednesday.
In a statement, Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered Las Piñas City Social Welfare Development Office to prepare its volunteers and city department heads to pack thousands of food assistance to residents.
Aguilar assured immediate purchase of food items as the city government’s Incident Management Team will ensure the delivery of the goods.
Before the extension, the city government said it distributed 90,000 food packs to poor families affected by the coronavirus disease crisis.
As of April 8, Las Piñas recorded 50 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 10 recovered patients and five deaths. Also, the city has 54 persons under investigation and 325 persons under monitoring for the respiratory disease.
