Negros Occidental quarantine period extended until April 30

MANILA, Philippines — The provincial government of Negros Occidental extended on Wednesday its enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) until April 30, 2020

The development came a day after the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) announced that the  extension of the Luzon-wide ECQ until the end of the month.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson signed the Executive Order No. 20-20-A extending the duration of the quarantine, which started on March 30 and was originally scheduled to end until 11:59 of April 14. A copy of the executive order was shared on Facebook by the provincial government.

“The enhanced community quarantine over the entire province of Negros Occidental is hereby extended until 11:59 p.m. of April 30. The provisions of Executive Order 20-20, Series of 2020 (which imposed the ECQ) shall remain in full force and effect,” the document read.

Under the order, the validity of ECQ passes issued by the province is also extended up to the end of the extended ECQ.

The executive order shall take effect immediately.

Local governments outside Luzon were allowed to impose their own quarantine measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
