BIR extends tax payment deadlines
MANILA, Philippines — With the lockdown in Luzon extended, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will also move the earlier set deadlines for tax-filing and payments.
Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay told the Inquirer on Tuesday that the BIR would issue an advisory containing the adjusted deadlines.
The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act mandated extension of tax deadlines which can be moved in case the quarantine period was also expanded.
The BIR earlier set the deadline for filing and payment of 2019 income tax returns until May 15; value-added tax refund application covering the period first quarter of 2018 until April 30; and the ongoing tax amnesty on delinquencies until May 23, among others.
Dulay said the adjusted deadlines apply nationwide. —Ben O. de Vera
