MANILA, Philippines — Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto, through his representative, filed on Tuesday his response to the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) demand to explain his possible violation of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
“We have filed a formal response stating that we have fully complied with the directives of the national government,” city administrator Jeron Manzanero said after he delivered Sotto’s letter to the Anti-Graft Division.
They also asked the NBI last week to clarify which of the city’s actions were being investigated to allow them to give a complete response.
The NBI earlier asked Sotto to submit a “written explanation” about his possible violation of the law, “[for example] continuous tricycle operation.”
“We received the letter from the NBI on April 1. The very next day we wrote a letter to the NBI… Until now we have yet to receive a reply, but we filed a formal letter saying that we are fully compliant with the policies of the national government pertaining to the enhanced community quarantine,” Manzanero said. —Nikka G.
