‘More fun in PH’ slogan perfect description for C. Visayas’
TOURISM officials in Central Visayas will adopt the Department of Tourism (DOT) slogan “It’s More fun in the Philippines” in time for this Sunday’s Sinulog Grand Parade.
“It’s more fun in Cebu because we simply have everything,” DOT-7 regional director Rowena Montecillo said.
She said they are waiting word from their central office in Manila to include it in their Sinulog float.
Though not confirming the attendance of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Montecillo said their department will be “very well represented” in the Sinulog festivities.
Montecillo said the DOT slogan is the perfect description for Central Visayas.
“The fun really depicts the Filipinos. Cebuanos and the Visayans are very good in that,” she said.
She said the people from Central Visayas communicate well, provide good services and has shopping centers, hotel resorts and restaurants.
“We have almost everything, what more can you ask for?” Montecillo said.
For her part, Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said the DOT slogan can also be adopted for Cebu province.
She said the slogan is a better fit than the “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” theme.
She compared the slogan to the “Discover Camotes Island” slogan they used for the Suroy-Suroy sa Sugbo in Camotes Island.
Magpale said Cebu could also adopt the slogan “Its more fun in the Philippines. Visit Cebu.”
But Magpale said development of more infrastructures in the province should be pursued to lure in more tourist traffic.
Meanwhile, local and international personalities have hopped on the new tourism campaign.
These include world-renowned fantasy writer and graphic novelist Neil Gaiman and former United States Ambassador Kristie Kenney.
In a tweet posted last Jan. 6, when the “It’s more fun in the Philippines” hashtag became one of the top trending topics on microblogging site Twitter, he said: “(The) #itsmorefuninthePhilippines hashtag is a true one. They applaud loudly and hug you a lot.”
Gaiman, no stranger to Philippine soil as he has already been in the country thrice, has repeatedly posted on his blog how much he loves the Philippines, especially its people. /with INQUIRER report
