TARLAC CITY –– Indigent households with infants at San Vicente village and other barangays will receive 700 packs of powdered milk from the Tarlac police, to help them ride out the Luzon quarantine, which has been extended to April 30.
Families who have been taking care of infants and children no older than 4 years old would be entitled to the donations.
San Vicente hosts the “Pulis Kalinga Village,” where many policemen assigned to Camp Macabulos reside. The policemen’s neighbors have been asking for milk, said Police Major Jim Tayag, acting chief of the Tarlac police’s provincial community affairs and development branch.
“Naisip ko ito as initiative kasi ang tatay o nanay, kapag nakikita na wala nang gatas o walang mapakain sa bata, iba yung pakiramdam nila, hindi ba? At baka mapilitan silang kumapit sa patalim, o makagawa ng masamang bagay basta may mapakain lang sa anak nila lalo na ngayong nasa Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine ang Tarlac,” Tayag said.
(I thought about this initiative. I sympathize with what a father or mother feels when they see they no longer have milk for their children. They could resort to extreme measures just to feed their children now that Tarlac is under an Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine.”)
Around 100 milk packs were distributed to San Vicente children on Tuesday (April 7) with the help of Mark Turla, who organizes relief operations. According to Tayag, another donor released P20,000 worth of milk packs on the same day.
The police, who have asked for more donations, plan to hand out milk to other Tarlac communities.
