GUINOBATAN, Albay—The Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol recorded two new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday (April 6) including the first fatality in the region.
Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion said a patient from Calauag village died only three hours after he was brought to a hospital in the city due to breathlessness and fever.
DOH Bicol confirmed this as the twelfth COVID-19 case in the region.
The patient, a 66-year-old man, was brought to Naga Imaging Center Cooperative Doctors Hospital (NICC) at 10 p.m. on April 2.
Around midnight, the patient was transferred to Bicol Medical Center where respiratory samples were taken from him, the mayor said.
He died at 1 a.m. on Friday (April 3).
Bicol’s thirteenth COVID-19 patient, a 63-year-old woman from Albay, was admitted to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH), according to DOH Bicol.
She had a history of travel to Baguio City on a date that DOH Bicol did not disclose. The health department has yet to disclose where the patient is from.
