Man refuses to leave birthday party amid quarantine, gets arrested

A man was arrested after refusing to leave a “a large birthday party” in Tennessee, United States despite quarantine measures brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police arrived at the event in Memphis after responding to a call about gunshots nearby, as per NBC-affiliate WMC yesterday, April 5.

Authorities immediately asked the crowd to leave, in line with social distancing measures imposed by Tennesse Gov. Bill Lee. Despite the officers’ urging, the guests refused to return to their homes.

Jeremial Lee then became upset and eventually threatened a police officer, as per report. The 28-year-old was later arrested.

Authorities also discovered a gun from his waistband and marijuana from his pocket.

Lee is charged with disorderly conduct in violation of the Tennessee stay-at-home order, carrying a gun without a permit and possession of marijuana. The report also stated that he is set to appear in court today, April 6. Ryan Arcadio/JB
