Financial aid for PUV drivers gets green light — DOTr
MANILA, Philippines — Emergency cash assistance for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers had been approved after mass transport services got suspended under the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to COVID-19 outbreak, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Saturday.
In a statement, DOTr said the cash assistance for PUV drivers was approved after signing the Joint Memorandum of Agreement with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) yesterday.
Included in the assistance are public utility jeepneys, UV Express, Public Utility Bus (PUB), Point-to-Point Bus (P2P), Taxi, Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS), School Transport, and Motorcycle (MC) Taxis.
The LTFRB is also tasked to give the list of drivers to DSWD to compare it to the list of beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
